It all started in 2002, with a promising opportunity and 60 sq feet of space
In February, 2002, a chance networking meeting happens over lunch. This is followed by a parking lot conversation. There is talk about the need for knowledge intensive insurance back office processes to be serviced. A U.S. insurance agency talks about an offshore team doing the service work.
And an opportunity emerges.
Marble Box had no insurance background, no outsourcing experience. But. There was grit and the drive to make a difference, if there was a business need.
Listening builds a business
Listening intently to exactly what the insurance agencies needed, Marble Box started with an intern. A credit card was used to buy the first Marble Box computer. The new team quickly learned the ins and outs of the insurance business and the processes that drive it, from the people who knew it best - the insurance agents. Over the next few years, the Marble Box team grew. The team built checklists, systems, and quality control teams to execute the processes that keep insurance agencies moving forward. All with feedback directly from insurance agents who wanted to grow.
We saw a problem and created a solution
Starting with a dial up connection over a modem (yes, really ancient technology!), the humble office of 60 sq ft. has proudly grown to 50,000 sq feet (as of October 2021) and counting.
It has been an incredible journey and the story continues. Indeed this company has been built one day at a time, by a team that believes. And works tirelessly towards that belief.
The one message we heard from agencies across the board, from the very beginning, was the need for consistency and accuracy. The stakes are high in the insurance business and errors are costly to agents, insurance companies, and ultimately to the customers you serve.
